The key to any successful business, as an entrepreneur – is being able to execute on your vision. Naturally, you want to invest the majority of your time in what you know best and improve your business. However, more often than not, those precious hours come to a halt when you are required to deal with what is considered an overhead – accounting, hiring and of course – legal issues.

It doesn’t help that the legal world is considered by many businesses as being “Threatening”,  “Aggressive”, “Scary” and “Difficult”. According to a few different studies, lawyers have the most despised profession in America. Yikes!

“The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers” is a famous quote from William Shakespeare’s Henry VI

The Good Side

In my experience, however, this is merely one side of the legal world. Having worked in it for so many years, I know there is a lot more to it. I wish more businesses knew legal’s other side, the side equated with “Knowledge”, “Strength”, “Advantage” and “Leverage”.

Legal tools can both provide you with the means to destroy a world, as well as the means to build it; the means to fight the other rather than create with another. They are an instrument with which I may plan to overpower my opponents and “bleed them dry”, or one with which I can establish collaboration and camaraderie, engaging my counterpart on a deal.

So, now that we’ve established the different uses of the legal tools, the next question is HOW to use them.

Well, the key thing to remember here is that timing is everything. All the knowledge, strength, advantages and leveraging in the universe won’t help you if you were too late in using the legal tools at your disposal. You must strike while the iron is hot, when your project is still in its early days.

You see, should you use legal tools too late in the game, the obstacle in the way will become insurmountable; the gaps become much more challenging to bridge. Miss your window of opportunity and the playing field will be wide open for those negative synonyms we had for the legal world, such as aggressiveness, threat, fear and difficulty. And wouldn’t that be a shame?

My Vision

That’s why I have taken it upon myself to make as many legal and business tools as possible accessible for entrepreneurs, service providers and website owners. These tools will be readily available to you on a daily basis, helping you build your dream and taking the right steps at the right time.

In future posts (click here for the next post) I will share tips and tools to help you navigate your own legal map, so you can understand your business and know you are on the right track. I truly believe these tips will empower you. You will gain invaluable knowledge and avoid legal mistakes. I will help you confidently give you the confidence and knowledge to make better, informed decisions, rather than just settling for the default.

So this is my vision – to empower entrepreneurs!
